Back in Oxford

So yesterday i got all packed and came back down to Oxford, for the 3rd and final term. I really can’t believe how quickly this year has gone, just 3 more months left here in Oxford. I am really excited for this term though, should be really good to get back into things here and stuff!

Had a very relaxing first day which was nice. We went out in the sun this afternoon, played some football, and went to Alannas old college, so us lads ended up having a few games of Croquet which was very fun!! Unfortunatly i didn’t win, but never mind!
We are just cooking some chicken, off to the late service in a short while. And other than that, back to work and things tomorrow, should be good :)

By the way i feel like i really need to listen to some new music, but i am not sure what, so any suggestions would be appreciated…

Back From Mozambique

Well yesterday i Got back from Mozambique, unfortunately my bag is still in South Africa! Though they are going to deliver it, so basically it just saved me taking it home myself! :)

Mozambique was amazing, it was just so wonderful to be a part of what is going on out there, i really fell in love with the country and stuff it was amazing. We lived on an orphanage just outside Maputo, which was beautiful, about 70 or so kids lived there i think. But part of the orphanage was also a school and a church, so many of the Children came to the school, or families to the church etc, so there was always loads of kids!

The 2 weeks were very relaxed, this seems very much how they live their life out there, no such thing as power walking existed! Its all about the slow casual walk, letting your feet sink into the sand each step! So i fitted in perfectly!

A few of the mornings we went out with Pastor Edwardo, to visit local families or widows from the church, many were very ill with HIV and other such diseases. I found this very moving, and more than anything just learned so much from the faith these people had, in the Church every time there was a call for people to be prayed for healing, everyone would go up who needed it, there was no shame in asking for prayer, because people knew that God wants to heal. Even the kids who had medical problems would be straight up there.

The first Saturday we went on an outreach trip, got on a ferry, which was not dissimilar to a stereotypical picture of a shipwreck! And we went out to some villages far into an island thing, here they go every other Saturday, and probably about 200 or so kids come along into this sheltered building Iris ministries built for them and they sing songs, so loud that it genuinly hurt my ears a little! They danced, and they heard the gospel. Afterward we gave them all a rather large piece of bread each! Which they were all very chuffed about. It was obvious that they look forward to this day every other week! None of the Kids even took a bite out of the bread there and then though, they all just held it close to them, some even up their Jumper!!

So yeh, i won’t go for an extra long post right now, i will post another one later of some other things we got up to and stuff. And some pictures too :)

Thank you so much for your prayers also, i didn’t get ill! I also didn’t get bitten by one single mosquito! I did however get attacked by a monkey on the last day though!! That will be a good scar to have, i can imagine it now… ‘Where did you get that scar on your arm?’… ‘Oh that? Just when a monkey attacked me…’ !!

It’s Tomorrow

Well it has sure come very quick, off to Mozambique tomorrow, already! I am actually pretty much packed which is a change for me! Just a few things to sort tomorrow.

Just had a lovely weekend with Katie, was good to see her and stuff :)

It feels a little weird that i am not going to be back in Oxford for like a month now, and then when we do come back its only a few more months left! Its gone so quick, and i think i am really going to miss it! So it’s a little weird that its the end of the 2nd term already, feels like we have only just started this one!

But yeh anyway, might not get chance to post tomorrow, please keep praying for us as we go! I think our flight is about 8pm tomorrow from Heathrow, 12 hours to South Africa and then over to Mozambique. We gt back on the 15th i think of April (2 weeks on Wednesday)

I will try and post some stuff when i am away, but i have literally no idea if i will even see a computer for 2 weeks, i presume there will be one in the centre, we will see! If not, i will write all when i get home!

I am also going to risk going equipped with no iphone! Which scares me haha! But i am sure i will cope!

So yeh, i will post lots of photos when i get back etc! :)

Weekend

So On Friday i ventured home once again to see my lovely girlfriend and family :) And it was lovely! On Friday evening i went to Furnace too, which was really cool, really loved worshiping back at St Thomas’ again was good :)

I came back then on Saturday afternoon, after missing my train by 2 minutes :( To co-lead worship at Reality with one of the Youth’s, which was really good :)

Today i had a whopper of a day, 3 services! Did visuals this morning, whilst running around in a nightmare trying to find someone to lead worship at Kids Church due to the worship leader on the rota’s wife going into hospital with a baby! I sorted that, it was fine!

Then i got a call this evening from Lauren saying the Sound man didn’t turn up can you come and do it? Oh no! I thought, but it was actually really good, it was a confirmation service too! So the bishop was present, extremely over dressed! But it was good! Charlie Cleverly even put his Dog Collar on which was quite the joke in the service!

This week shall be good, i am going to see Snow Patrol on Wednesday with Katie, can’t wait for that! And i am leading at Risky Living on Thursday night.

I thought i would share this video with you though, an amazing song i have become very fond of lately. Really powerful…

God Bless

Oriel College
