Turn On The Tap

Greetings,

So I thought it was about time that I uploaded something on here, as this website has been rather reminiscent of a ghost town as of late. Sincere apologies there.

One thing that has been really on my heart lately is a project called Turn On The Tap. This is a great project run by the guys at Samaritans Purse, who you may be aware of from other projects such as Operation Christmas Child, the shoebox appeal.

Turn on the Tap aims to provide clean, safe water to families in parts of the world where this is not the case. Some families walk miles each day to collect water, yet the only water they can collect is not clean, not safe and certainly not acceptable.

About £10 will give one person clean, safe water for life.

In the last couple of weeks I have moved into a new flat, moving out of my family home where I moved back to live for the past nearly 2 years. It has made me realise just how much things cost in life! And I have cut down on many things that I don’t need. It has made me a little sick really when I think about the money I used to waste on a lot of stuff.

Look familiar? 14 cups in this photo, say £3 a cup, often it’s more… £42, you could have pretty much saved a families life. Say I buy 3 coffees a week? That is one child every single week that I could have given clean water to, for life.

So what are we going to do about it? One thing I am doing is donating money from all of my CDs to Turn on the Tap. if you head over to My Online Shop I have reduced my EP to just £4, and 50p of every CD sold there will go straight to Turn On The Tap.

This is not all, I will be back to share more with how you can get involved.

Pasta Hut

Is this serious i hear you cry?!

Well, after a day of being confused and intrigued after hearing this news, i thought i may as well share it with the world! Or the part of the world that reads this anyway!!!

It seems to be, that the original idea of Pasta Hut, came about on April the 1st this year, in america, where commercials were used as an april fools, but also at the same time to promote the fact that they actually do pasta!!

But now, the UK seems to have been gullable in hearing this and thought America were being serious! And on the 6th of October launched a campaign, where about 15 or so new pasta dishes were introduced, and started adverts and stuff, basically with the message ‘we love pasta so much we might change our name to it’ striving to obtain a more healthy reputation.

I actually went in today, and they have actually changed all the menu’s and stuff to ‘Pasta Hut’ and it seems to me that they are actually being serious. If you go on the website, now www.pasta-hut.co.uk. You will see there is a box where you can vote if they should stay Pizza Hut or go Pasta Hut! Its all very exciting.

I probably can’t see them actually changing it, i assume they will probably just keep it up for a few months, saying they might change it, which will give them lots of publicity, make them look like they care more for the healthy ones instead of just accomadating the fat! And then they will say something like, well most of you liked it as Pizza Hut, so we want to please you all, but also want to please all the pasta lovers so we will still do all the dishes for you!

Anyway thats my Pizza/Pasta blog! Personally, i would quite like to see them change to Pasta Hut, i just think it would be exciting!!

A beautiful meal, and a rapper

Today has been another very tiring day, We kicked off the morning with staff worship, which was very cool! Which then after a house meeting lead into staff lunch, which was a great chance to just prepare for the week with other fellow colleagues and enjoy fellowship together.

I have really enjoyed getting to know the staff here, they always all have so much time to talk, and so much to talk about! Had a good laugh over dinner, which was cooked by the legendary ‘Jules’ Who is the church chef, he is pretty awesome! He made possibly the best brownies i have ever tasted today!! So that was a lovely treat!

This afternoon we had a session with Charlie Cleverly, which was entitled ‘The Discipline of Intimacy’ which was very good. He also gave us his book, titled the same, which as my first piece of homework i must write a book review on, which i am very much looking forward to!

Over the past couple of days i don’t think i have ever been so inspired to just want to go and just indulge myself in the word of God. Yesterday we were studying psalm 119. So often we look for miraculous signs from God in the clouds and through obscure ways, forgetting that he has made it so easy for us and written down page after page of truth and help, yet we look straight past it!! And i have just been challenged very much, how can we say we believe something, but not bother to spend all the time we can learning as much as we can!

So much of the bible, if you take the time to look, actually makes so much sense! It all fits together, like a jigsaw, but 3D!

I was going to end this blog here, but i must tell you about tonight! First of all we had an awesome meal, Jill and Minela cooked up a treat for us all! It was like full on chicken, potatoes, broccoli, oh yeh! Heres a sneaky photo! And this was only half of it!

But yeh, we had a couple of guests round tonight, 3 in fact. One by the name of ‘Jeremy Moses’ Which means, he could be nothing but cool! And basically these guys are awesome, and they run a thing called Word On The Street, which basically means they go out into the center of Oxford, and worship through song. And this is something i hope to get involved in and things! Which will be cool. But yeh, we had a time of prayer and worship for this event which turned out to be awesome. The prescence of God just in the room upstairs was just so there, and it was just so cool to all come together, all with one dream, to glorify God.
One of the guys is actually a rapper, and an extremely good one at that! He rapped one of his songs, and man it was insane, Just so passionate, and actually good!! So that was really fresh to hear n stuff, so yeh really looking forward to getting out there and hopefully opening peoples eyes!
