Reality, Childrens Church

So last night i lead worship at Reality, which is the weekly Youth gathering here at Aldates. Which i really enjoyed, had a great time worshipping the Lord. Steve (One of my housemates) gave a really good talk on Taming the tongue from James 3. Focussing especially on the bit where it says how it only takes a small spark to start a forest fire. One bit i found really helpful was that he then went on to explain a little why this analagy is such a powerful one, apparntly A forest fire can travel up to about 7 or 8mph, which sounds quite slow to us. An average non elite sprinter, sprints at about 19mph or so, but can only keep this up for 200 metres or so. When a human runs a marathon, they would run at about 6mph, so essentially it is not impossible for a forest fire to outspeed a human running away from it. And that is just such a huge thing, that James is saying that our tongues, though a very small part of our body, can say something that maybe we don’t think about that could then spark off something so huge.
We went into groups after and stuff to chat about this, because it is something that no-one has perfect, and something that we all really need to make such a concious effort in improving etc.

This morning i lead worship in Children’s Church which was fab! Really enjoyed that, just before the worship they had a game, where 2 kids covered their faces in golden syrup, and a couple of other kids had to throw sugar puffs to see how many would stick!! Brilliant!

I think one of my favourite things of this year, is leading worship in so many different areas of the Church and just meeting God with so many different people and stuff! Love it
