Alpha Weekend

Just got back from a lovely day and a bit at the alpha weekend away which has been really cool. We went to a place called Eynesham Hall, which is just beautiful, see below!…

It was a really nice weekend, we had some time on saturday to just hang out and stuff, there was a swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, all free to use! Pretty cool!

Perhaps a little embarrasing though. Channel 4 have been fimling the alpha course so they brought a few cameras this weekend. And we were playing a little football on the tennis courts, and a few of their camera crew came down with the cameras and started filming us! Which was fine, until they actually came on to the courts!! It quickly became a little awkward, as all our casual conversations ceased and all the football skills we had in the first place seemed to leave us! But its ok because jamie kicked over a floating ball on to my side of the court, i quickly sized up my run up and it was all set to be the shot of the game, a perfect volley was on the horizon. The camera was direcly on me. As i take a step towards the ball, i am quietly confident that this will look amazing on Channel 4, I swing for the ball… Something happens that i am not quite sure about, but my foot ends up rolling over the ball, and i some how end up on my back looking up at a now cloudy sky, my hand hurts a little from the graze that i havn’t experienced since my junior school years, i hear nothing but laughing from both us lot and the TV guys, not a moment i am proud of! They said they will send us the footage! Maybe i will put it on here if they do!!

But other than that the weekend was cool, it was just so cool to see a bunch of people that just 8 weeks ago would not maybe have even stepped into a church, now seeking the holy spirit and getting a little more what this Christianity thing is about.

On the Saturday night also we had a bit of a talent thing, Jon Ronson who is a best selling author, and directing the Channel 4 thing read a bit from his book which was so funny! And then when Charlie asked who else wants to do anything, everyone seemed to volunteer me! Which i wasn’t most overjoyed with at first! But i just played a song i wrote a while backĀ it was cool. Charlie Cleverly however came fully prepared, harmonica and all. And serenaded us with a wonderful rendition of ‘Forever Young’ i think its called! And i have to say i was very impressed with the guitar and harmonica action he produced.

Nice
