The Weekend…

Got back from the Church weekend away last night, and unpacked the stuff straight into church ready for the 6pm service!! Which i then did visuals for! The weekend though was very good, really enjoyed it! John and Ellie Mumford spoke all weekend, they are the directors of All the UK Vineyard churches, and planted the first one in the UK. They were really quite amazing actually, so inspiring and they just knew exactly how to connect with people. And they were so genuine, they just simply cared about people, really humble people :) When i first met John though, i must say i was a bit worried about the weekend ahead because he was just so well spoken and posh! I thought he was going to be one of these preachers you can’t listen to! But he was absolutely hilarious, and turned out to be so inspired :)

I met loads of people over the weekend too, and spent time with some of the people that i have kinda only spoke to two or three times, so that was really cool :)

One of my highlights was probably the game of ultimate spoons on Saturday night!! After most people had gone to bed we were playing spoons in the bar (a card game for those of you who i have lost!) Which we then took up to the next level, and put the spoons in reception, which was right through the bar and down a corridor! Was good fun!

Wellies

I forgot to mention, yesterday i have a very fun visit to ‘Mr Shoe’ in the attempt to buy some Wellies, which i have wanted for a while now. I decided to get them before the weekend away if i could because it may be muddy if we go for a walk, and canvas doesn’t do too good in the wet!

And there they were, in all their green glory. The ones! I had a quick try on, but to be honest, a Welly is a Welly, so obviously they were fine! And as i approached the till ready to pay the £19.99 that was stuck on them the man, in a generous voice speaks out… ‘Thats £14.99 please’… Result! Enough said :)

I did struggle slightly on the way home, with the huge paper bag they came in, i nearly took out most of Oxfords population!

Weekend Away

This weekend is the Church weekend away, so now i have arrived here at High Leigh, in Hartforshire! Its very nice! We have just set up all the worship stuff, and now i have come to check out my own En Suite room, to the pleasant surprise of having free wireless internet :) So its all good! Got my laptop, and a couple of One Tree Hill DVDs, sorted haha!!

Really looking forward to the weekend actually, at the moment there us just the three of us worship interns here and all the leadership, so when the rest of the interns and everyone arrives i’m sure it will be good! All us lads all have bedrooms on the same floor ha so that should be fun!

But yeh, i will let you know what we are doing over the weekend n stuff :)

Incomparable

I am currently reading a book called Incomparable by Andrew Wilson, which so far is so good! It is a book basically about the different names and Characters of God. I am only a few chapters in, but already i have been so inspired by this book. Last week one of our tasks on Thursday was to write a song based on a chapter of this book. I thought that was going to be so hard, but after i started reading the book i realised it really wasn’t! And i managed to start work on a song, based on creation that i have actually been trying to write for months, but have never got as far as i did last Thursday! So i can’t wait to work more on that!

But there was a quote from Nicky Gumbel at the end of one of the chapters, which i just found amazing, here it is…

‘On 20th August 1977, voyager II, the inter-planetary probe launched to observe and transmit to earth data about the outer planetary system, set off from earth traveling faster than the speed of a bullet (90,000 miles per hour). On 28th August 1989 it reached planet Neptune, 2,700 million miles from the earth. Voyager II then left the solar system. It will not come within one light year of any star for 958,000 years. In our Galaxy there are 100,000 million stars, like our sun. Our galaxy is one of 100,000 million Galaxies. In a throw away line in Genesis, the writer tells us, ‘He also made the stars’ (Genesis 1:16). Such is his power.’

Exciting news

Well, some very exciting news of the church this term. This summer Channel 4 are doing a 6 episode series on religions or something. But basically they are coming here and filming the whole alpha course, which will then be one of the sessions. Which is quite exciting! Look out for me on TV haha!

Also there may be some more exciting news soon, regarding the BBC and Pentecost… but not much has been said about that yet!
