The David Crowder Band

Today was a very exciting day! The postman brought me wonderful things, in the shape of the soul survivor live 2008 album, and The David Crowder Band live CD/DVD. Which i bought with some of my birthday money, so thank you mum and dad! :)

So tonight i got settled in my room, placed on my big AKG headphones oh yes, and watched the David Crowder DVD, and it was amazing!

One thing that really stuck with me, David Crowder was explaining a little about why they do what they do, saying how each one of us needs to be making a difference in the world.

He went on to say that there is a difference between compassion and Justice. Compassion is when you stand by a river where loads of people are drowning, and you one by one start to pull people out. But Justice is when you walk upstream to see who is throwing these people in.

This is something that really connected with my heart. As a church here in Oxford we have been looking at the theme of Justice for the past few months, and so often its easy to talk about but hard to really understand. This analogy has probably made it the clearest it has ever been for me. I think each one of us needs to start with acts of Compassion, this could be anything, from giving a homeless person a ticket to a night shelter, or it could just be asking the shop keeper how they are doing, because maybe you are the first person that has payed any attention to them that day.

I believe we also have a call to seek justice in this world, maybe this may come when the compassion we show is so much that other people catch on to it, and start showing more in their own life. Maybe seeking Justice would be to go out of your way a little bit, and finding out a little more about why something is the way it is, maybe it’s signing that petition that you wouldn’t normally have time to do. I don’t know, but i think we are all called to help change this planet. All i do know, is that it’s hard, but we are the people that need to do it.
