Prayer Ministry Training

Had a day off today, which was good! Didn’t do much, made some pancakes and stuff! And then this evening had prayer ministry training, which was really good actually, didn’t really fancy going as it was our day off and all, but actually it was really good! Made me realize a lot more how much of a big deal it actually is having the prayer ministry team ready at the end of each service to pray for people, cos prayer is really a big deal. And not having people at church to pray for you, kinda defeats the object of church in a way i guess! So it was good! :)

In the worship at the end, Sam played a song called ‘Fire Fall Down’ by hillsong, which is amazing! Not heard it before, but its just such a good song! So i came home and learnt it for tomorrow! Where i am leading worship at Reality (The youth group) so that should be good, looking forward to it. They are doing a series about the cross at the moment, tomorrows talk is about forgiveness through the cross, so it is likely to be a really honest and emotional evening. I am really looking forward to it :)

Alpha

So, tonight was the first in the series of this terms Alpha, and in a word, it was amazing! We started by having the pre alpha teem prayer and worship meeting, which i lead worship at. Charlie Cleverly (The Rector) Has come in this term to oversee the whole series (Mostly because Channel 4 are filming!!

I am co-leading a student table this term, which i really really enjoyed. Really nice bunch of people on our table, all Oxford students except one, so very intellectual! But wonderful. All the people are really open to chatting about their views and opinions and stuff, so it was really good. I am looking forward to getting to know the table more over the coming weeks, and seeing God move through the course :)

Anyway, i am planning on going for a run in the morning, i have been talking about it for years, but i have decided i am actually going to do it! So we will see how that goes! haha!

Oh and i have been having lots of fun with my synth and garage band! Been making a remix of a song i wrote a while back! Love it, so much fun, can’t wait to finish it!

Home

Just got back from a couple of days at home, which was really cool. Spent some quality time with Katie and the family so was good. Today me and Katie treated ourselves to a pizza hut, and a lovely hot cookie dough desert :)

It was really nice to get home to a quiet house! Most people were at the pub! So i even got a bit of songwriting in tonight, which was good :)

Our dryer here also seems to be a little broken! On opening the door, to see how the clothes are doing, the dryer continues to dry, and clothes tend to come spinning out on to the kitchen floor!

Anyway, not much point in this post but never mind! :) Best be off to bed, playing a little bit of acoustic guitar in church in the morning :)

Risky

I lead worship at Risky Living last night, (the weekly student event) Which was so good. I co-lead with Rich, so i was gonna do all the set before the talk, and then Rich was going to do it after because the talk was about living a spirit filled life, so after they went into a kind of healing time where people just handed everything over to God, and the response after the talk was amazing, so many people went up for prayer and stuff it was amazing.

So anyway, Rich and the band got up to lead the response time after, he started with Everyone needs compassion, a short way into it, i notice he’s fiddling around with his guitar a bit, and then drops out, leaving just the drums with a chilled back beat and Rich singing! I thought that’s a bit weird! Rich then looks over to me stood off the stage and just points at my guitar! So i had to go and join him and strum along, it turns out his guitar had gone really badly out of tune!! So i then had to play along (and work out) the chords as i hadn’t played it for quite a while, as about 150 students hear every mistake! haha! but it was all fine :) Rich then got me to lead a few more songs as we went on, so it was really good.

So yeh, was a really encouraging night, everyone in the room seemed to just be really up for worshiping and going that extra step into Gods presence, so it was really cool to be a part of it. :)

Holy is the Lord…

I thought i would share with you something that has been going around the Parish Centre here… follow this link and just listen to the song, only about 40 seconds, but so funny!!…
