Thanksgiving gets better…

Ok, heres the thing. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, not a big thing over here usually, but because there is a lot of different culture here (mainly a lot of americans!) Its quite big here. So tomorrow is the Thanksgiving ball for the students.

Tonight after Hungry they packed all the chairs, cleared the stage, and set up tables for 250 people, in about 30 mins no joke! not bad!! So church looks awesome.

But here’s the best bit. Myself, Lekai and Matt are ‘bouncers’! So we were thinking of sticking socks up our arms, just to make sure no one will mess with 3 stacked bouncers! Then came the awesome news, we all get 2 way radios, haha!! With in ear things apparently! Man i am so excited its unreal! ha! Other than the fact that if anything did break out i would have no idea what to do… But never mind… ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’… My translation ‘With Christ, i AM hard’!!! No i’m joking but yeh it will be good!

I will be sure to post some photos, Oh and also we are having like fake snow stuff in the entrance way, like some stuff you put in water or something then they blow it everywhere with a fan… coooooool!!!

Book review, thanksgiving, nightmare of a day!

This week i spent a lot of the weekend finishing my book review, on The Discipline of Intimacy, by Charlie Cleverly, the Rector here, it was actually quite a good book… though i am not going to mention another word of it! :)

Monday we celebrated thanksgiving as a house, Jill cooked the most wonderful meal, 2 massive turkeys, the full whack basically. All our house were there which was really nice, as well as a few friends we work with in Church who came over for a bit :) This was followed by a game of american football! Which was great fun actually! Then we returned home, i beat mark on Pro Evo (1st one to beat him in the house i think!) And then Jill had already made us some pumpkin pie and apple crumble! Sorted!

We did have to go to School of Theology in the evening, but that was still cool, we followed it up by a good game of football in the Christopher room! Awesome! :)

Today, is one of those days, overslept, the washing machine broke on me, leaving my clothes drenched; not knowing there was a drain button i proceeded to hang my clothes up in our room, dripping quite literally! So i put a few towels underneath. Got into work, went ok. Lunch i went to buy some trousers for tomorrows Thanksgiving ball, topman, trousers, sorted… Until i got to the till to realise i had no debit card! I quickly ran home (Well, i did choose to keep my dignity so i walked quickly home!), luckily they were in my jeans, so i went back to topman, and bought them. I just hope they look ok with my jacket now!!

Let’s hope the day won’t get any worse now!!

John Mayor

Well, i am sat in reception covering for a bit! On youtube, and found this video, man this guy is awesome! I have been meaning to listen to some of his stuff for a while, from lots of good reports, and i’m glad i did now cos he is so good :) John Mayor :) I think this song is originally by someone else, but its still good :)

Enjoy :) Oh by the way, i forgot to tell you the rest of my welly story the other day, well after about 45 minutes looking for some wellies, i gave up!

But it was all good cos i borrowed some on monday, and i loved them. Man wellies are so comfy! If anyone wants to get me a christmas present ;) Size 8, preferably black! haha!!!

Prophesy

Yesterday we were taught by Martin Schroder, who works here. On Prophesy. Which was just so cool! Focussing mainly on 1 Corinthains 14. It was just so cool to see what it was all about n stuff. Martin is really a great prophisier, for the alpha away day each year he prays over every guest going and asks God to really reveal something about them, without being with them or knowing them. And every year apparntly he gets it spot on, or lets say God gets it spot on!!!

At the end of the session yesterday anyway he wanted to pray over each of us individually, so he stood in the room with his eyes closed and held a hand out, in which we each in turn went up and placed our keys in his hand (Not for any weird reason but just so he knew someone was there because he didnt want to look at who he was praying for) He would then start praying and prophisieng over everyone. And even just sitting watching him do it over other people it was so obvious he was bang on pretty much every time!

When it came to me, i was excited, but also nervous, like what happens if God doesn’t tell him anything, or if its negative and really embarrassing! But in a word, it was amazing! Pretty much everything he said was stuff that has been really really on my heart over the past few weeks, and stuff i had really been praying about! But also things that i hadn’t really told anyone, not because they were secret, but just because it had never really came up in conversations or whatever!! So for him to then tell me all that was just so encouraging, because it was really a point in the right direction that i am praying the right things and it was just so awesome to know even more that God is so much in control of my life right now :)

So yeh, loved it. The guy was just so obviously blessed and lead by God it was awesome :)

Retreat day

Yesterday we had our intern retreat day which was really cool. We went to a convent for the day and had a day focussed on Peace and Rest. Which was awesome just to get out of the everyday business and routine and just relax for a day. We spent lots of time with God soaking, and a lot of time just individually n stuff so it was really nice.

We also went for a walk n stuff around the place, found some cool horses…

So yeh, all in all it was a very peaceful day, read lots of my bible too so it’s all good :)

Then after we got back in the evening we went to school of theology and then just to finish off a relaxing day, we had a very energetic lads game of football in the parish centre again!!! All good :)
