Breaking News

Today i filmed breaking news for Risky Living tonight! (Basically here at church instead of someone standing up at the start of each service to give the dreaded notices, they film them in the week and make a nice video out of it, which is now just as much for the entertainment factor which is great!)

Sundays is called the Essentials, and for Risky Living Mark and Alanna (Both house mates) film one called breaking news! So i did that this morning which was fab! I loved it, they have a proper camera thing, attatched are 2 radio mics n stuff! So it was cool! I felt like part of the BBC or something ha walking around with the tripod with my headphones in! ha!! The finished product wouldn’t quite of made it on the BBC! i will have to try get it on here ha to show u what i made ha!!

I meant to post that yesterday, but my battery died again on my laptop!! Today i have a day off which is good! I am listening to the radio 3 live lounge cd which is so cool! Dizzie Rascal has done a cover of the ting tings song ‘thats not my name’ which is fab!! haha!!! Love it!

I am seeing Mcfly a week today :) Which is very exciting! :)

Alpha

As i write i am sat covering reception! Which has been fairly quiet so far this morning! So its good!

Last night i lead worship on alpha, which i really enjoyed! Alpha in general here is wonderful. Last night i think there was about 120 people all sharing a meal and an evening together. A lady called debbie did some background music during the meal which was really lovely.

I then just lead a couple of songs on my own, which was cool. Everyone still just kinda sat and listened. Which is how they start to introduce worship at alpha, and then gradually get people joining in n stuff!

A guy called Micheal Green then spoke, he used to be the rector of Church here years ago, and was a really inspiring preacher so that was cool.

So yeh, I don’t know what i was going to write now as the phone rangĀ a few times and about 5 people came to the door! ha!

Baptisms

Last night both evening services were baptisms. With 8 adults getting baptized in all! Which was just so cool! Each one gave their testimony, which was really cool to hear. It was quite incredible to try and understand what some of them had been through in the past.

One guy was from London, basically having grown up from a troubled family he got into a life of crime, he says he got his 1st gun when he was 18. He became a drug dealer just living of things he stole. He moved to Oxford and basically started flooding the streets with drugs, when one night he was meeting a girl outside St Aldates, to sell some drugs to, and she was just going inside for one of the homeless meals, so he went inside to wait for her. At this point he was approached by one of the vergers who started sharing the gospel, and then he prayed for him. And over the next few months he started coming to the things at church, he gave up his previous life and gave his life to Christ!

I love seeing what God can do in peoples lives :)

I’m just about to be off to the daily prayer meeting, then today we are being taught by a couple who work for a similar school of ministry in Canada, so hopefully that’l be good! It’s all a little quieter in the house this week as Steve and Matt are in France for the week, with the youth half term week away thing! Not that it’s very quiet! There’s still 12 of us.

Children’s Church

Just lead worship at Children’s Church which was very cool! The kids love doing a bit of jumping in One Way, so its all fab! ha!

Now got a free afternoon till 4, when i am back at church to play electric guitar in the 6pm Service! Should probably do more of my book review of Charlies book, the Discipline Of Intimacy. If anyone would like to read it and review it for me then you can find it here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Discipline-Intimacy-Charlie-Cleverly/dp/1842910493 !!

Yesterday i did a little bit of internet shopping, and ordered One Tree Hill season 5 Boxset!! And also radio one live lounge 3. So i am looking forward to when they arrive!

Bicycles, Phone Boxes and Oranges

Sorry i havn’t posted in a while! Was quite a busy week, which has ended up to be quite a fun one actually!!

I made my debut on a bike around Oxford the other day! Which was a little scary! But at the same time i really enjoyed it! Never really ridden a bike on the roads before! So it was kinda cool!! :)

Yesterday i cooked for everyone, which was then followed by a fun evening, when we realised there were a lot of people on fancy dress on bikes outside our house (And a phonebox) we quickly noticed they were part of some treasure hunt thing around the city, so we started ringing the phone when they came, to tell them to go to the head of the river pub, and ask the bar tender what colour his dog was! We thought this would just be a silly idea that never worked… But it turns out they all fell for it!! So some of the guys went down to the pub, got the bar tender in on the joke, who then sent them to the opposite end of the city!!! Love it!

Today me and mark had a game of tennis in the kitchen with oranges, making a net out of toilet roll, which is good, until the orange splits, we got through 8 oranges, and i won 7-6 on sets!!! The toilet roll we used for the net, then came in handy to mop up the orange juice which ended up covering large chunks of the walls!!

I did do some work too!!! Tomorrow i am leading Children’s Church worship in the morning, and then playing electric guitar at the 6pm service in church!
