Start of the week

I have been up since 6am this morning! Tried sneaking out my bunk bed discreetly as not to wake pete, but 2 steps down my worst nightmare happened, i fell! Creating the noise i was intentionally trying not to make! Pete wasn’t impressed!

But off to the prayer meeting i hopped! Then followed by a mcdonalds bacon cob and a Latte! And a quick trip into town! We then started with Intern worship, which was cool. This isn’t when we worship each other! But rather where we just start the week by taking an hour just the 14 of us (and nicky) to offer ourselves and the week to God. This was a lovely way to start the day :)

We then had our first session with Simon Ponsonby which was actually brilliant! I listened so close to every word for like 2 hours! If you haven’t heard him before, then i defiantly recommend you read one of his books (I havn’t yet, but from today i defiantly will!

So yeh, i make my debut in the kitchen tonight along with Pete Bacon, we are going for a vegetable curry, so that should be fun! And then we have training for the Audio Visuals!

I hope you have a blessed week, thanks for reading, please leave me comments! So it doesn’t seem like i am just talking to myself haha!

Sunday

Today has been Sunday, and a very busy one at that! been at 3 services today where we were introduced to three congregations, but it was fab!

I helped out at the late service, which i must say was a really awesome service. In 20 minutes after the 6 a clock service we cleared away all the chairs, and generally made the church simpler and more spacey. And it was just a really nice service, lots of students n stuff!

This afternoon we went to Nicky’s parents house which is like a huge country house, and a lovely tennis court! had a good game.

Now i am completely wiped, and have to get up at 6 tomorrow morning to lead worship at a 7am prayer meeting! So that should be wonderful.

So off to bed i trot.

Sunday

For the third day in a row the sun is shining beautifully down on Oxford, today is probably the busiest day of the week. And also our first ‘full’ Sunday. Which basically means we get introduced at all 3 services today.

I am heading off to Children’s Church this morning to see what goes on, as i will be responsible for all the worship here.

This evening i am part of the late service team. Basically the late service happens about 15 minutes after the previous service finishes, all the chairs have to be moved away, lights have to be put up, a new band has to be up on stage and ready (having already sound checked in the week) So as you can imagine, its quite an operation!

So yeh, looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy a lovely sunday.

I am currently listening to James Bond music!!! Matt left his laptop on the chair next to me, kindly playing some strange tunes, it was all U2, until James Bond kicked in, or is it Mission Impossible? They all sound the same to me!

Hey

I have another day off today, and its very sunny which is good. I am currently researching possible new songs for the church to sing, and absolutely loving Chris Tomlin’s new album Hello Love. You must buy it if you don’t already have it!

But i thought i would give you some lovely news after the acoustic evening the other night, i have put some videos up on YouTube. To see some go on www.youtube.com/gazsimmonds

And also, about a week ago i put a new song up on my Myspace page, called Beyond The Love. This is a song i wrote a few months back, and over the summer have been recording it along with Laura Clayton, Abi Pierce, Harry Soar and Steve Willis, who also used his wonderful gifts in the studio to record it and do an awesome job!

So please do check that out at www.myspace.com/gazsimmonds

For now, i thought i would gift this page with a little video from my YouTube site, Its called Illuminate The Cross, its about a year and a half old but we revamped it a little for the acoustic concert, so i hope you enjoy it.

I will be sure to put more up

Thanks for reading

Day Off!

Today was my first day off, which was cool, i get every friday off and some saturdays. And it was good timing that today was also really hot and lovely!!

I had a wonderful lie in, until 11! which was fab! This afternoon we had a guys trip out to the park where we played a bit of football and some volleyball which was cool!

We then met up with the rest of the guys and set off to the river, where we went punting!! I imagined it to be quite a relaxed thing, but it turned more into a 2 boat battle! But it was good fun!

I am looking forward to another day off tomorrow, and then off to Reality at night, which is the youth group here! I believe i am playing bass!!!
